Our yarns are now available in Australia! Check out this wonderful online store, www.bringkniton.com.au. This has been in the works for several weeks. We’re very excited!
It was a tough decision, but I decided to have shoulder surgery three weeks ago. Somehow, somewhere, within the last eight months, I tore my left rotator cuff, and it wasn’t getting better. Fixing it right away (while the tear was small) rather than waiting meant a much less invasive arthroscopic surgery vs. opening up my shoulder, which meant less pain during recovery, and hopefully a return to dyeing (and everything else!) sooner. The timing was also good because Sheri and I both have college aged kids home for the summer, eager to earn money winding and skeining. And, in my case, willing to drive me around for six weeks in exchange for the use of a car.
The surgery was successful and I am indeed in less pain than I anticipated, but oh, I want out of the sling so badly. At least I can knit, so I’ve been working on a couple of samples. Right before surgery I dyed up a big pile of self striping, and I’m soothing myself by looking at it. Above is one of my favorites, “Swim Team.” I dyed it in fluorescent yellow, fluorescent orange and turquoise blue. Two of the things I miss most with my injury are water aerobics and swimming, and I think I had that on the brain when I came up with this colorway. It looks like the best kind of swimsuit.
We have some great shop news that we’ll post shortly, as soon as a couple of things are finalized. Stay tuned and stay cool! I don’t know how it is where you live, but it’s going to be 102 degrees here this Saturday. I think we’ll be heading for the coast.
